Take a test swim in the lake before event day

This time of year the lake temperature is typically in the mid 70's. But, this year the lake has been a little colder. So, I encourage you to wear a wetsuit if you are at all affected by cooler temperatures. It is also a good idea to make a practice swim in the lake sometime before next Saturday. You should swim for at least 15 minutes to see how it feels.

As a reminder you can rent a wetsuit at Cornell Outdoor Education 607-255-1807.

  1. Marrie,
I have a cap (black) that I bought with my wetsuit that really keeps my head warm. Will I be able to wear it during THE swim? (Can I get transferred to a black-capped pod???) -Patti

  2. Swam from North Point accompanied by Andrew Farnham in a kayak on Monday from 3:00PM to 4:30PM almost all the way over and all the way back. The lake felt great to me, I am going to stash Diane's wetsuit for another year, when the water is really cold!
    Thank you Andrew!!!
